About The Thunderbird Country Club

If you’re looking for more than just a home and appreciate the rich history behind Rancho Mirage, Palms Springs, and the rest of the desert area, Thunderbird Country Club should be a location that’s right near the top of your wish list. Founded back in the early 1950s, Thunderbird is famous for being the first 18-hole, member-owned country club in all of Coachella Valley, originally attracting a who’s who of ‘50s era celebrities like Frank Sinatra, Bob Hope, Ginger Rogers, and other.

Today, Thunderbird Country Club maintains its elegance, prestige, and pure desirability, and updates to the clubhouse, tennis courts, golf course, and fitness center help make it one of the most sought-after communities in the entire Desert Area.

Thunderbird Country Club Amenities

Thunderbird Country Club might be most well-known for its prestigious golf course but residents and existing home owners here will be the first to tell you there’s much more to living at Thunderbird than just golf. The elegant clubhouse at Thunderbird offers 48,000 square feet of amenity space, which includes a 6,000 square foot state-of-the-art fitness center and spectacular tennis facility that ranks among the region’s best.

  • The Thunderbird Country Club Golf Course. The 18-hole golf course at Thunderbird Country Club was originally designed by John Dawson and Larry Hughes, but then redesigned back in 1987 by renowned golf course architect and designer Ted Robinson. Along with the course, there’s also a driving range, chipping and sand practice areas, putting greens, and a full-service pro shop as well.
  • The Thunderbird Country Club Fitness Center. The modern, state-of-the-art fitness center at Thunderbird Country Club is truly one of my favorite parts about the entire community. Included is all the latest strength training and cardiovascular equipment and members also have access to a wide-range of classes that range from spin and fitness fusion to dance, basic defense, yoga, and more.
  • The Clubhouse at Thunderbird Country Club. Remodeled back in 2003, the 48,000 square foot clubhouse at Thunderbird Country Club has everything you could want in a country club setting. As mentioned above, the community’s modernized fitness center is housed inside this amazing facility, as are three separate dining rooms (Grille Room, Halfway House Grille, and Dining Terrace) that all make for a great place to enjoy for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or even happy hour.
  • The Cottages at Thunderbird Country Club. If you’re lucky enough to call Rancho Mirage home, frequent visits from friends and family are to be expected. But luckily for Thunderbird home owners, the club features a number of cottages that are for the exclusive use of members and guests.
